"Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood." - Fred Rogers.
Here are some snapshots of some play based learning that I happened to capture last week.
Shrinidhi working on tracing Alphabets on light box.
Tracing Alphabets on light box |
Lots of building activity took place.I love the play being so open ended and creative.
Here Sid and Nidhi have built animal enclosures with Magna Tiles.
A barn with doors! |
It is both a barn and zoo ;) |
Block play on mirror really adds a depth. This is an office building with provision for doors. Sid seems to be having a growing interest in building structures with doors nowadays.
Dad's office |
Can you guess whom these Lego men and puppy are eagerly looking at?
Audience are ready - start the show |
Here he is! The great conductor Signor Siddharth! :) I love how his focus is now on conducting Music. He used to be a musician playing air violins but now he has transformed himself into a conductor.
Conducting music is a serious business |
Shrinidhi's artistic renderings seem to be improving. She is trying her hand at drawing anything and everything she sees. This is her first attempt at drawing a person. We met Santa at our community Christmas party and she drew this immediately after reaching home. If Santa looks too thin, that's because he really was thin this year! :D
This Santa closely resembles a carrot ;) |
